<p>Chalcogenides having a crystalline size of less than 0.1 micron of the formula MXy wherein M is a metal selected from the group consisting of Group IVb, Vb, molybdenum and tungsten transition metals of the Periodic Table of the Elements, x is a chalcongenide selected from the group consisting of sulfur, selenium and tellurium, and y is a number ranging from about 2 to about 4. Chalcogenide intercalates are useful as, for example, lubricants, battery cathodes and superconductors.</p> |
