The system is intended for heat exchange between two media of differing temperatures, using vertical heater pipes (5). The latter are arranged in a number of spaced rows, all those in one row being connected to a common supply manifold (8) at the bottom. The pipes can be hairpin-shaped, with both sides (6) connected to the same manifold, and the individual rows can be filled with the necessary heat transfer medium to differing degrees.
