A wear resistant liner for a railway vehicle having a matrix 47E of an ultra high molecular weight polymeric material and reinforcing means 53E substantially surrounded by said polymeric material, said reinforcing means comprising a structure having openings 54E therein for receiving said polymeric material completely therethrough, said means 53E serving to reinforce the liner and to prevent substantial cold flow of said polymeric material.
