PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten glass delivery apparatus which improves the glass fining capability of a molten glass delivery system.SOLUTION: The molten glass delivery apparatus is configured such that to allow a substantial number of defects not removed by a finer 33 to be diverted to the unusable inlet and distal edges of a sheet 11, a stirring device 34 is relocated to the inlet of the finer 33 from the outlet of the finer, or the basic shape of the finer 33 is changed from a cylindrically shaped cross-section to a Double Apex (or Gull Wing) shaped cross-section, and thus the apexes of the finer receive the glass that will form the unusable inlet end of the glass sheet. One or more vents 35 of the finer are located at these apexes such that any homogeneity defects caused by the vents 35 are diverted to the unusable inlet end of the glass sheet 11, so that the finer cross-section has a high aspect ratio for increased fining efficiency as compared with a cylindrical finer. |
