Metal parts with an insulating coating are welded together by introducing electric energy in them from any point such as the outside edges and by applying a welding pressure when the electrical resistance of the desired welds has dropped below that of the surroundings. An electric field is given a configuration such that its greater density destroys the insulation at the proposed weld, thereby enabling the welding current to fuse both parts together. This saves the necessity for a prior removal of the insulation and for baring the coated metal parts.
|
