The fuel supply system is intended for a combustion engine (1) with horizontally opposed cylinders (2a,b). It comprises a first fuel supply unit such as a carburettor (4) which operates in the low engine load range and a second unit (9a,b) supplying additional fuel at higher load. The first unit is arranged in an air intake duct (3) of relatively small cross-sectional flow area which is common to all cylinders. An additional air intake (8a,b) with larger cross-sectional area is arranged directly on the cylinders on each side of the engine and becomes operative as the second unit (9a,b) is switched on.
