PURPOSE:To eliminate an exclusive diode and reduce the number of applied reeds as well as the number of bondings by a method wherein the lead wires connected to one end of each of heaters are connected via a semiconductor gate acting concurrently to ckeck a leakage current. CONSTITUTION:Each of ends of a plurality of thermal printing heaters 1A-1P is connected to common terminals 2, 3 and then semiconductor gates 11A-11P acting also as checking leakage current are connected to each of the other ends of the heaters. Selective ON/OFF of the gates is controlled by each of the contents registered in the shift register 13. The gates 11A-11P and the register 13 are integrated in the same semiconductor tip and formed therein. For example, 1 and 0 are registered in advance in each of the registers 13 and the transistors 11A-110 are selectively turned ON or OFF. At this time, a voltage is applied between the common terminals 2A, 3A and the terminals 12, while only the portions among T1, T4, T6,... having been turned ON are heated to cause a printing operation. |
