The two sheet-metal components are held together with their edges overlapping. There is, in each of the mating edges a drilled or punched hole to accommodate a bolt or rivet. An external collar is embossed in the first component to form a ring round the bolt extending part-way into the hole in the second component. The hole in the second component (2) is extended radially to form a slide trace. This is of constant width, equal to or greater than the external diameter of the collar.
