Process for transforming chrominance numerical signals of an orthogonal system of colour coordinates into colour numerical signals and into saturation signals of a system of colour coordinates. The system of polar coordinates is divided in four quadrants. These quadrants are reference marked by numbers. To measure the most significant bit of the chrominance signal, the quadrant concerned is first marked and thereby the calculation is limited to only one quadrant. For these quadrants, the transformation formulas for transforming the chrominance signals into colour and saturation signals are provided in a memory table. The colour signals for the four quadrants are obtained by means of the reference marking numbers of the quadrants and the values stored in the memory. To reduce the capacity of the memory, the signals will be, prior to memory adressing, subjected to a shifting and, during read out of the memory, they will be again shifted. |
