Soln. of fluoropolymer (I) in ahalogenated solvent (II) contains over 0.5 (over 3) wt.% (I) w.r.t. the soln. at 25 deg. C. (II) is a perhalogenated, satd. liquid with 1-3 C alkyl and alkyl ether segments and terminal polar gp(s)., which are either alkyl carboxylic ester or sulphonyl fluoride gps., the halogen being F, Cl, Br or I. (I) is a copolymer of TFE and vinyl monomers contg. SO2F or carboxyl gps. (I) is specified for use in the prodn. and repair of membranes for liquid permeation processes, esp. hyperfiltration, electrolysis (of aq. NaCl soln.) and ultrafiltration; and for coating an inert support (e.g. for use as catalyst). Solns. of (I) of high equiv. wt. (specifically over 1000) can be prepd.
