Device for controlling the viscosity and temp. of glass being tapped from the bottom of a glass melting furnace comprises two ring electrodes set apart in the vertical discharge channel which pass a current through a glass in the gap separating the electrodes, thus heating it up. Pref. electrodes are made from Mo; the dia. of the upper electrode is larger than that of the lower.
