A fritted Ni support is initially chemically coated by treatment in a reducing bath contg. nickel chloride, sodium hypophosphate, ammonium chloride and disodium citrate. Electroplating is then effected using a soln. contg. nickel chloride and sulphate, and boric acid, using a Watts bath at ambient temp. with a Pt anode. The support is finally isostatically compressed. If the electroplating and compression result in complete blockage of the pores, the plate is subjected to partial anodic dissolution. The membranes are suitable for ultrafiltration techniques e.g. desalination, or as fuel cell anodes.
|
