The key operated lock barrel (1) is inside the button operated rotor (3) which is itself inside the stator (4) housed in the weatherproofed sealed opening in the vehicle body (6). The rotor and the barrel are automatically returned to the neutral position by springs (11,12) when pressure on the button or key is released. When the key is turned, the barrel turns, and internally threaded plate (16) moves to the right, pushing a plate (17) before it, the latter having engaging pin (18) which moves forward to overlao a cam (15) so that the lock can be opened or closed.
