A ring interferrometer for rotation sensing and angular speed measurement has two separate coupling points for light input to an optical path. Light extracted from the coupling points is divided into components. Two components from one point are individually summed with components from the other. The resulting light beams are fed to two separate optoelectronic sensors. The effects of light source, usually a laser, power fluctuations and optical conductor damping variations on the measurement signal are eliminated. The output signals of the two optoelectronic sensors are fed to the dividend and divisor inputs of a divider circuit forming the quotient of the two signals. The sensor signals may first be processed by a-d converters before being fed to a digital divider, e.g. a programmed microprocessor.
|
