This invention relates to an improved metal casket construction and an improved method of making such casket construction wherein a plurality of elongated extruded metal members are provided in standard lengths and suitably cut, formed, and fastened together to provide a high strength fluid tight casket. The side walls of the casket are formed by arranging the extruded metal members horizontally one above the other. The contiguous horizontal edges of adjacent metal members have flanges extending inwardly toward the center of the casket, and these flanges are fastened to one another in a fluid tight manner.
