The epitrochoidal rotary-piston internal-combustion engine has a housing with a peripheral wall incorporating two zones near the axis of an eccentric shaft accommodating a triangular piston with radial sealing strips at the corners. As this rotates it forms with the housing suction, compression, expansion and exhaust chambers. The zone near the axis and opposite the inlet and exhaust ports has an overflow passage briefly connecting the expansion and compression chambers as a piston corner passes. The overflow passage (21) intersects the peripheral wall (11) between narrow edge ribs. When seen in the direction of rotation of the piston (4), its forward edge (22) is passed by a piston sealing strip (14a) when the inlet port is shut. Its rear edge (23) is situated at the next portion of the wall nearest the axis.
|
