Uniform charge discharge circuit for storage battery - has protective element which bridges battery when specified state is reached

The storage batteries consists of electrochemical storage cells connected in series, or of groups of cells connected in parallel. The cells are based on alkali metal and chalcogen, and have spaces for anolyte and catholyte, separated by a solid electrolyte partition. A protection element (1-3) is in parallel with a storage cell (4) or a group of cells (4). When a specified maximum charge or discharge is reached, it bridges the circuit by a switch (3). The protective element (1-3) is connected directly to the supply terminals (5, 6) and the storage cells (4) are connected to one of the terminals through the switch (3).
