Power control system for IC engine - combines power control unit and throttle flap coupled to accelerator pedal

The power control system has a device that disables the control unit when the engine is in a given operating state. The control unit interrupts the operation of the piston/cylinder units in accordance with a programme dependent on the position of the accelerator pedal. The throttle flap in the suction line of the engine is fully open when the control unit is functioning but is coupled to the accelerator pedal when the unit is not functioning such that when the pedal's position remains constant the power produced by the engine as a result of the throttle flap is equal to the power produced in response to the control unit.
