PURPOSE:To increase the oscillation strength and improve surface characteristic by making the length of the horn on an oscillation connecting plate to specific times the wavelength determined by the oscillation propagation speed of the mold body and the given oscillation cycle. CONSTITUTION:This mold for continuous casting consists of broad mold faces 1, 2 and narrow mold faces 3, 3' and the broad mold face 1 has an oscillation connecting plate 4, to which a high-frequency oscillator 5 is provided by way of a horn 6. The horn 6 is made rectangular to the oscillation face of the oscillation connecting plate 4 and this is particularly effective for making use of the oscillation energy. The length of the horn 6 is made half the wavelength determined by the oscillation propagation speed of the mold body and the oscillation cycle given. Further, reinforcing ribs 8 are provided to both ends of the coupling part between the oscillation connecting plate and the mold body to increase mechanical strength. |
