摘要 PURPOSE:To control tunnel current of the field control type superconductive multi- terminal element by providing a control electrode with semiconductor or semimetal as a substance for isolating between superconductive electrodes and applying electric and optical signal directly thereto. CONSTITUTION:The superconductive electrodes 2, 3 are formed on a substrate 1 of insulating glass or the like in the region at less than superconductive transition tempeature, crystalline or amorphous semiconductor or semimetal control electrode 7 is formed between the electrodes 2 and 3, and the interval between the electrodes 2 and 3 is set at less than several times of the coherent length. Since the coherent length of electron pairs passed through these materials is longer than the conventional insulating film, the thickness of the electrode 7 is set at less than several times of the coherent length (less than several hundreds Angstrom ) to control the width and the height of the Schottky electrode between the electrodes 2, 3 and 7 by the voltage applied to the electrode 7 so as to control the current between the electrodes 2 and 3. The semiconductor may employ, for example, Sn doped GaAs, and the semimetal may employ Bi. This configuration can eliminate all defects in the structure and the operation of the conventional Josephson element.
