PURPOSE:To obtain a solid-state image pickup unit of high sensitivity by using photosensing element composed of photodiodes and CCDs for signal charge transfer. CONSTITUTION:Photodiodes 2, provided along vertically-directed CCD1-1-1-N, store charge in accordance with the quantities of photodetected light and inject charge into CCDs at intervals of constant time. Vertical-transfer-pulse generator 6, applying transfer pulses to CCD1-1-1-N, move the injected charge as shown by the arrows to inject it into horizontal CCD3. Horizontal-transfer-pulse generator 5 leads the charge, injected into CCD3, out to output terminal 4 within a horizontal scanning period. |
