The centrifugal pump is driven via a magnetic coupling and comprises a housing with a central inlet and radial outlet. The drive side of the housing has a non-magnetic housing wall with a hub on which the impeller with magnetic poles rotates. Within a bearing housing a magnetic rotor carries drive poles and is driven by an input shaft. Deformation of the housing wall due to pump pressure and consequent movement of the fixed impeller hub is prevented by at least one axial bearing. The rotor may be hollow and carried on bearings on an extension of the fixed hub.
