PURPOSE:To form a gap between the pipe and the mandrel in order to intercept the heat conduction, and to improve the mandrel life, by clamping the pipe with the reforming rolls installed perpendicularly to the rolling rolls of the continuous rolling apparatus. CONSTITUTION:The reforming rolls 9-13 respectively possessing the axis perpendicular to the rolling roll axis of the roll just in front of each of the rolls 9-13, are installed so as to face each other on both sides of the pass line L. Hereby, the pipe P bulges out toward the gap of the rolling rolls 2 and forms the gap G1 with the ear P1; this ear P1 is clamped by the reforming rolls 9 so as to separate the inner face of the pipe from the mandrel M to form the gap G2. As a result, the heat conduction from the pipe P to the mandrel M is intercepted by the gaps G1, G2. |
