PURPOSE:A film of olefinic resin is drawn, opened and electrically charged to give a opened film, which is subsequently subjected to specific crimping treatment to produce title crimped yarn with high dust collection and retention properties. CONSTITUTION:A film of olefinic resin is drawn longitudinally, opened and electrically charged by corona discharge at an appropriate stage, e.g., before the opening or after that. The charged opened film is subjected to crimping treatment at a temperature of lower than 110 deg.C to produce said electret-opened crimped yarn. The crimping treatment is effected preferably by introducing a hot-air jet at 60-100 deg.C into the path of the opened yarn from the inlet at one end and exhausting from the outlet at the other end to form turbulene or jet stream in the path. The resulting yarn is very fine and gives bulky fabrics. |
