<p>PURPOSE:To form a homogeneous nuclear substance by pouring a nuclear substance-contg. nitric acid soln. after treating used nuclear fuel into a container provided with heaters and heating the soln. under reduced pressure while isolating the external atmosphere to uniformly heat the soln. as well as facilitate evaporation. CONSTITUTION:Container 11 filled with nuclear substance-contg. nitric acid soln. is sealed in upper case 15 and lower case 23. After exhausting air in cases 15, 23 with vacuum pump 19 an electric current is supplied to heaters 12, 13. Water in the soln. is evaporated very efficiently, and the soln. is well agitated by convection and maintained at an almost uniform temp. all over. When the soln. temp. is raised to about 100 deg.C at both upper and lower portions, and evaporation of water is finished, heating is carried out with heater 13 alone, and the current supply to heater 13 is stopped with a switch built in thermometer 18 at 350 deg.C at which denitration is finished, forming a homogeneous cake.</p> |
