A signal transducer defining a system's null and dependent on orientation is suitable for series production process, in partic. for rolling long track, for which gyroscopic systems are suitable were it not for their cost and the roughness of the operating environment. A lens system consisting of a multiple medium boundary layer arrangement directs all the signals entering it within defined limits towards a common target point. It is placed in the beam path of a laser. The low lens wt. enables very rapid reorientation without positional change. The degree of signal conversion depends on the combination of media and the overall shape. Z axis deviations are shown in the X-Y plane as the tangential angle to the envelope curve of the Z-deviation.
