The engine has an intake compressor with a first stage on one shaft and two further stages on a second shaft rotating round the first shaft. A second compressor on the outer shaft delivers air to a distributor which divides it between a combustion engine and a heat exchanger. The air from the heat exchanger flows through a three stage turbine. The turbine stages surround the intake compressor stages. The exhaust of the combustion engine is added to the hot air flowing to the turbine. The two shafts are coupled by planetary gears to which the combustion engine is also connected.
