NEW MATERIAL:An antitumor protein complex of the formula (X is bifunctional organic group; S1 and S2 are S atoms; S1 is a sulfur atom derived from the disulfide bond in immunoglobulin, S2 is a sulfur atom derived from the disulfide bond in diphtheria toxin; n is 0 or 1; m is an integer 1-5), comprising the constituent consisting of a substantial fragment Fab of antitumor immunoglobulin and a constituent consisting of a substantial fragment FA of the disphtheria toxin. USE:Antitumor agents capable of selectively producing the toxicity only to cancer cells. Fab fragments are combined with cancer cells selectively without nonspecific combination to the Fc receptor on the cells because of no Fc fragment of immunoglabulin molecules. PROCESS:Fragments Fab of antitumor immunoglobulin having -S-SO3<-> groups and fragments FA of disphtheria toxin having -SH groups are reacted with a bifunctional compound.
