PURPOSE:To obtain the control unit of high responsiveness for all the images including line images by making the size of the image patterns for decision of developing capacity to the one of the extent at which the disturbances in concentration distribution do not occur owing to edge effect when said paterns are visualized. CONSTITUTION:The solid image and line image patterns of different reflection characteristics of the size of the extent at which the disturbance in concentration distribution do not occur on account of edge effect when they are visualized at the maximum width w of 10mm or less are provided on the contact glass 12 to be placed with the original in the regions other than its original region 2, and the latent image patterns for decision of developing capacity are formed on the photoreceptor in the regions other than its electrostatic latent image forming region. These patterns are visualized through development and are radiated with the light of the wavelength region insensitive to the photoreceptor. The intensities of the reflected light are then detected with photo cells or the like and the toner concentrations may be so controlled as to become always constant with high responsibility for all the images including the line development controlling the toner concentrations. |
