In other embodiments the primary and secondary liquids may be separated by a tertiary liquid and/or by diaphragms 13. The liquid levels may be such that the secondary liquid can be moved into vessels 9a, 9b, 9c by siphon action as shown in Fig. 1; where this is not possible the diaphragms 13 may be made elastic or may be weighted, or liquids of different specific gravity may be provided, and may be expanded or displaced during the second stage so as to provide a pressure to accomplish the first stage. The first stage may also be accomplished by pumping. Several systems may be combined in parallel so as to provide continuous operation. |
