High speed electrophoretic photocopier - has conducting copy and flow control fluid for constant density

An electrophoretic high speed printer has a line of profiled electrodes (35) spaced from the copy sheet (1). The space between is filled with the fluid toner. The toner particles are drawn onto the copy by the field between the electrodes and the copy. For improved effect the surface of the copy material is treated so that it is conductive. The fluid is applied to provide a constant stream of fresh fluid under the electrodes. The electrodes are profiled to prevent dragging of fluid. This ensures an even density. The fluid is applied in front of the electrodes and is drawn away behind the print position, using profiled jets.
