PURPOSE:To obtain the title starch having improved film strength, adhesion to metal, anticorrosion, flameproofness when used in fibers, by grafting methacrylic or acrylic ester containing a phosphorus atom onto a starch. CONSTITUTION:(B) A monomer mixture consisting mainly of a methacrylic or acrylic ester expressed by the formula [R1 is H or CH3; R2 and R3 are H, 1-5C alkyl, alkali (earth) metal, primary, secondary, or tertiary aliphatic amines] is grafted onto (A) a starch, e.g. natural or modified starch. Preferably, the degree of grafting is 0.01-50%. |
