<p>In the construction of a roller to carry fabrics through a steamer, the surface of the roller is fluted by axial grooves distributed evenly round the circumference. The webs between them have a curved surface according to the dia. of the roller, with a width equal to or greater than the groove width. The ratio of the web width to the outer diameter of the roller is 1:10 to 1:30. There is almost a right-angled edge between the web walls and the web surface. The design prevents the formation of gas or steam blosters on the surface of the roller, so that the fabric is not damaged or marked, and the roller requires little cleaning.</p> |
