<p>Appts. for continuously monitoring the weight of a fibre lap feeding spinning machinery comprises a series of measuring rollers arranged side-by-side to cover the full width of the feed conveyor, each of which continuously registers the weight of the section of the lap passing over it. An integrated signal from all the rollers, incorporating the speed of the lap, is compared with a pre-determined standard value, any deviation being used to adjust the speed of the conveyor proportionally, to ensure delivery of a constant weight of fibre per unit length, or unit of time. Feed rate is maintained with great accuracy and reproducibility, regardless of the type of fibres, or their volume, and is effective for small batch sizes. All types of variability, whether short or long term, periodic or aperiodic, are minimised.</p> |
