<p>PURPOSE:To start and stop a tape between inter blocks with two kinds of tape speed by moving the stop position of the tape to a prescribed position on the basis of the current status when speed mode switching indication is given. CONSTITUTION:When the read of data block Di is completed, the driving signal is cut off, and magnetic tape MT is decelerated and stops. Distance S from cut-off of the driving signal to stop of magnetic tape MT is measured by a running distance measuring means. Next, the magnetic tape runs backward along path a, and the driving signal is cut off at the point of distance S1, and the magnetic tape is decelerated and stops along path b. Next, the read of data block Di+1 is started at a point where the tape is moved by distances S2 forward along path c. At this time, the value of tachometer pulse counter 10 indicates a correct running distance, the tape can be started and stopped between inter blocks.</p> |
