PURPOSE:To prepare an antitumor agent having high storage stability, by adding a specific stabilizing agent to a suspension of cells of Streptococcus pyogenes having antitumor activity, and drying the suspension. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic antioxidant (e.g. sodium thiosulfate) and/or sodium bicarbonate are added to a suspension of cells of Streptococcus pyogenes having antitumor activity, and the suspension is dried to obtain an antitumor agnet. Streptococcus pyogenes, which is a variant of Streptococcus hemolyticus and capable of producing a hemolysin, streptolysin S, is extremely unstable even in a dried state. The addition of the above stabilizing agent elongates the effective period of the agent to a practical length. |
