The workpiece is placed on a lower forming die which is also used as a workpiece carrier and travels round an endless conveyor track with the shape of a rectangle; and the lower die travels successively past a workpiece loading station; a filling unit supplying the energy transfer medium; an explosive forming unit contg. the upper die; a workpiece unloading station; and a station for cleaning the lower dia. The pref. track includes a pusher located near the explosion forming unit which is located on one long leg of the rectangular track, the other three legs of the track being fitted with chain drives; each corner of the track is provided with a power operated unit changing the direction of travel of the lower die by 90 degrees. A large number of lower dies can be fed round the conveyor track for rapid mass prodn. of objects.
