Oscillating vane swashplate pump - has slots at right angles through eccentric shaft, for pairs of sliding vanes

The radial vane swashplate pump with improved action for conveying highly viscose liquids at lower speeds, has an eccentric shaft section (3) rotating inside a pump chamber (2). The max. gap (2) between the rotor and the chamber wall is twice the eccentricity (X) of the shaft. This shaft has two grooves (4) at right angles to each other for two pairs of sliding vanes (5, 6). The ends of these vanes are rounded for contact with the interior of the pump chamber. They reciprocate inside the grooves assisted by centrifugal force, due to the eccentricity of the drive shaft. The total travel of a vane is 30% of the largest width of gap, and the total travel of a pair of 70% of the width. The top and bottom edges of the vanes are extended, with a width which is less than a quarter of the overall vane width.
