Apparatus to prepare a length of weft yarn for insertion into the shed of a shuttleless loom, has a guide (5) moving in a reciprocating motion along a path to lead the weft from a store loop, acting in combination with the feed roller (9). The drive (2) for the guide (5) also operates a deflector (4) to pull the weft into the loop to store it before it passes to the loom. The manipulation of the weft is synchronised by the drive (2) with the operating cycle of the loom so that the movement along the store loop path is a whole-number reduction of the weaving cycle. The weft is available for positive feed, and allows two or more wefts to be prepared and fed so that they alternate with each other.
