The valve comprising a rotatably mounted disc 15 having a peripheral edge which is inclined to the axis of a fluid flow channel through the valve is provided with an annular sealing ring 14 consisting of a body portion 13 supported by the valve housing 10, 11, a flexible neck portion 16 extending from the body portion 13 toward the edge of the disc 15, and a lip portion 17 carried by the neck portion 16 and comprising a pair of spaced flexible lips 17a, 17b facing in opposite directions respectively and disposed in an inclined plane substantially parallel to the inclined edge of the disc for interference engagement with spaced portions of the disc edge. The surfaces of the neck portion 16 leading from the body portion to the pair of lips 17a, 17b respectively face the fluid flow channel on opposite sides of the disc and have substantially equal unsupported areas, so that the extent to which the neck 16 and lip portions 17 of the seat deflect in a downstream direction in response to the application of fluid pressure to an upstream portion of the fluid flow channel is the same without regard to the direction in which the fluid pressure is applied to the channel. <IMAGE> |
