The microwave cooker has a cooking space (12) which is acted on both by microwave energy of a radiating device (26) and by thermal energy of a burner (92), and a device (64, 80, 68) in order to prevent absorption of microwave energy by a gas flame which serves as a source of the thermal energy. With the device, air is moved through the combustion space of the burner and vapour which contains this air and the combustion products of the burner is blown into the casing of the cooking space. With this microwave cooker, short cooking times can be obtained even if the cooker has just been switched on. <IMAGE>
