1,087,641. Lamp-holders. J. L. KRUMM. Jan. 8, 1965 [Jan. 10, 1964], No. 903/65. Heading H2E. A lamp-adapter for use in an explosive atmosphere comprises a holder 8 for a lamp 9 and contacts 13 for engaging stud contacts 15 on plug 11, the mating contacts being held together by a latch 16 engaging a groove in the terminal body member, which latch cannot be disengaged until the translucent cover 5 is removed. The support ring 4 is attached to the adapter casing by a bayonet fastening which is so arranged that when in the attached position, a hole 22 in the cap supporting ring, lies adjacent the head of a bolt 30 which can be moved by means of a special tool operated from the outside into the hole 22. As the bolt is unlocked it screws inwardly and forces spring strip 31 which is connected to the earth conductor 7<SP>III</SP>, against conductor 7<SP>IV</SP> to complete an intrinsically safe circuit to a remote circuit-breaker. The supporting ring may then be rotated and removed, allowing the lamp to be changed and/or a plug to be withdrawn or inserted. |
