Detector which finds metal pieces picked up by vehicle tyres - uses electromagnet to produce oscillations that trigger warning signals on dashboard

The metal detector warns a driver of damage to his tyres by detecting the presence of metal pieces picked up from the road. The driver may then stop and remove the metal and repair the tyre before any serious damage is done or an accident occurs. An electromagnet is located in the mudguard of the vehicle and scans the surface of the tyre whilst the vehicle is in motion. The electromagnet passes oscillations to a switching circuit that releases warning signals on the driver's dashboard. Several electromagnets may be connected one behind the other. The detector is capable of scanning the entire surface of the tyre for metal pieces.
