A clutch gear unit has a combined slipping and disengaging clutch comprising a pair of coaxial rings (44,46 or 169, 170) disposed at least partly within a coaxial torque- transmitting wheel (58 or 168) of the unit. One of the rings (46, 169) is both a part of the slipping clutch and a part of the disengaging clutch. It is urged to a torque- transmitting engagement position with said wheel through an interposed friction linin (56 or 166) by means of compression springs (50, 202) that act between the pair of rings and it is held releasably in said engagement position by an eccentric (124 or 186) acting through an axial push element (108 or 188). The slipping torque of the slipping clutch is adjusted by adjusting the axial position of the other ring (44, 170) by varying the spring bias. A compact arrangement is obtained with particular application to such installations as power- operated gates, doors, shutters and valves of various types. <IMAGE> |
