PURPOSE:To improve capacity and storage performance, by constituting anode compound with MnO2 and an organic binder without using any conducting material such as graphite. CONSTITUTION:The anode compound 2 comprises MnO2 and an organic binder such as polytetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene, or polystyrene, a base 3 of nickel or stainless steel the cross section of which is L shaped is fitted on the side of the anode compound. A manganese metal layer 4 is formed by reducing MnO2 of the anode surface with a chemical reducing agent preferably such as hot alkaline aqueous solution, alkaline lower aliphatic alcohol, hydrazine, formaldehyde, or stannous chloride, and contained in the anode can 1 with the separator 5 and electrolyte impregnating material 6. Thus packing density of anode compound is increased to increase the capacity, this condition can be maintained for long time. |
