In the tyre chain, one side chain is adjustable in length by means of an adjustment element (4) which has two legs (6, 7) which extend at a distance from one another. The legs (6, 7) are connected to one another by means of four transverse webs (8, 9, 10, 11), two (9; 10) of which are detachable. In accordance with the length of the side chain, connection chain elements (16, 17) which are connected to the adjustment element (4) are either connected to a detachable transverse web (9, 10) or to a detachable or fixed transverse web (8, 11, 9, 10) which follows the latter in the pulling direction of the side chain. <IMAGE>
