The special p.b.x. has the operator's consoles for the telephone exchange side and the internal extensions side combined into one console. The composite console has two registers - one for the exchange and one for the internal business or works part - to store and convert selection information. The two registers convert the selection information - irrespective of whether the input is serial or parallel - into a uniform code signal for further processing and transferring to the other part of the installation.
