The tool which applies spreadable material, such as paint and glue, comprises a holder (1, 2) and a set of replaceable brushes or rollers (14). The holder consists of a handle (1) and a head (2) with spherical recess (6) with conical forward opening. Each element has a short shaft (15) with a larger-diameter spherical end (13) fitting the recess and capable of being secured therein by clamps (8). The head may have a central bore with a number of longitudinally extending radial slots (4, 5) forming sprung sectors permitting insertion of the spherical end (13).
