PURPOSE:To prepare high quality coix seed oil useful as endermic liniments and cosmetics, by treating the embryo buds of coix seeds at low temperature thereby inactivating lipase and removing water, pulverizing the treated buds to ultrafine powder, and pressing the powder to obtain the oil. CONSTITUTION:Coix seeds obtained by husking the seeds of Coix lachryma-jobi L. var. na-yuen stapf, are treated with a rice-cleaning machine to separate the embryo buds. The embryo buds are heated to 60-80 deg.C to inactivate the existing lipase, and at the same time, removing the water to facilitate the crushing operation. The dried buds are pulverized to ultrafine powder by a jet pulverizer, etc., and pressed with a stainless steel roll or a piston-cylinder oil press to obtain the objective coix seed oil which is a light-yellow clear liquid. The coix seed oil contains phospholipides, vitamin E, gamma-oryzanol, etc., and is non-irritant to the skin. |
