A zip fastener is produced from a plastic profiled section (10), in the shape of a U, produced by extruding and whose web (14) is then notched on the outside and transversely (30) in order to form therein a chain of longitudinally spaced teeth (20). The free ends of the flanges (12) of the profiled section are nicked transversely (40) in order to form therein a row of longitudinally spaced tabs offset with respect to the abovementioned notches (30). These tabs comprise projections (28) intended to retain the stitches executed during sewing of the fastener onto a fabric introduced into the slot (16) separating the two flanges.
